Stress and Anxiety

We all experience a degree of stress in our daily lives, and in small quantities it is not all harmful to us, but when stress increases it can be very damaging. Without small amounts of stress we would be unable to do anything. It is what motivates and drives us... but large amounts of stress can stop us in our tracks, immobilise us and cause serious illness. The Health and Safety Executive estimated that in 2009/10, 9.8 million working days were lost through work-related stress alone.

Anxiety is a feeling of unease, that we all experience at times, when faced with a stressful situation: before an exam or an interview for example. However, for one in ten people in the UK, anxiety interferes with normal life. It may also be associated with depression and substance abuse.

When you are stressed or anxious, you may experience a range of physical and physiological symptoms as a result of your body’s release of the stress hormone adrenaline, and the ‘fight or flight’ response. Hypnotherapy can help you to manage your symptoms, desensitise your responses, and change the underlying causes. With hypnotherapy you can bring you life back under control.
